We checked out the swim start, transition area and expos before we got settled in for the restless night of sleep before the race. We had a humble campground setup compared to others elaborate setups. Sydney who was also the team photographer for the weekend relaxing in our "camper".
Fortunately Wildflower is an atypical triathlon in that the start times are not so early in the morning. My wave started at 9:00am, Jill and Britney's started at 9:25am.
We got setup in our transition area and walked the route to remember how to get from the swim back to our transition spot amongst thousands of others.
I was racing in the "Old Mans" group M45-49 as evidenced by this photo!
Adrenalin was pumping at this point in the race, I was in the light blue caps.
Jill and Britney's wave went off 5 waves after mine and are in the middle of this chaos.
It was a tough course, way more difficult than the Oceanside half. Jill and Britney both did an awesome job. This was Jill's first Triathlon in 7 years and she did it bruised ribs and all after her bike accident last weekend. I would never have started if I was in her condition. Woman are tougher than men.
Britney, myself and Jill after finishing.
